Visiting with Kids

MAG has something for the entire family, from camps and classes to scavenger hunts to make ‘n’ takes. Engaging with art is an activity for all ages. Find all the unique, interactive ways your family can dive into creativity, prepare for your trip to MAG, and learn something new below!

In the Galleries

Explore art in our Docent Gallery interactive areas! Discover thoughtfully curated make ‘n’ take materials, influenced by play theories, or learn how creativity and problem-solving develop when materials are offered to explore and craft. The variety of materials MAG offers in this space encourages people of different abilities and tactile strengths to participate in their own way.

Pick up an Art Spot at the rack near the Admissions Desk to reveal details about selected artworks on view! These scavenger-hunt-like activities are great for all ages and are a fun way to engage with new art and a themed tour around MAG!

Sensory bags are available at MAG’s Admissions Desk for visitors with sensory sensitivities, aimed at helping them navigate and manage external stimuli in a museum environment. Each sensory bag contains noise-reduction headphones, sunglasses, and fidget/relaxation toys.

Preparing for Your Visit

Download and review our Social Story, which includes photos and text about what to expect while visiting MAG. Printed copies are also available at the Admissions Desk. Our Social Story is a specialized resource designed in partnership with AutismUp.

Free visitor parking is available in all lots on the museum grounds. Designated spaces are available for visitors with disabilities in parking lots A, near the University Avenue entrance, and D, near the rear entrance. The clearance is six feet, six inches (6′ 6″). Both entrances are fully accessible.

Creative Workshop

MAG’s Creative Workshop offers art classes (beginner to advanced), creative camps (art, clay, and writing during winter, spring, and summer breaks!), scholarships, and birthday parties! There is so much to explore, with each class or camp instructed by teaching artists, you will step into a community of makers at the Creative Workshop.
