The Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) announced the recipients of several prestigious artist awards during the opening of the 69th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition on Friday, June 27.
- Memorial Art Gallery Award: Award of Excellence ($1,500): Lily Rice with Sun Sugar (2024, oil on wood panel)
- Alice E. Koret/Docent Award: Given in memory of Alice E. Koret by Dr. Sidney Koret, friends, and family, and selected by a docent of the Memorial Art Gallery ($1,000): Kathy Armstrong with Childhood: Curiosity, Wonder, and Imagination (2025, watercolor and guache)
- Gertrude Herdle Moore/Isabel Herdle Award: Given by the Gallery Council of the Memorial Art Gallery ($500): Susie Taylor with Gemini (2025, hand jacquard weaving
- Ida and Elmer Louis Award: Given in memory of Mr. & Mrs. Louis by their family ($600): Erika Guli with Milo (2024, watercolor)
- Suressa H. Forbes Memorial Award: Given by her daughter, Elizabeth J. Forbes ($500): Robin Whiteman with Stuck Cat (2024, clay, underglaze, glaze)
- Barbara R. Biben Artist to Artist Award, Selected by artist Barbara R. Biben ($500): Jim Quinn with Unseen Elderly Shopper (2024, oil on canvas)
- Arthur and Ronan Christopher Louis Award ($500): Asher XT Gordon with Billy and Skippy – Vacations Are Not For Heroes (2024, 2D animation)
- The Harris Popular Vote Award: Given in memory of Dr. and Mrs. Manville S. Harris ($500): yet to be decided—the public is invited to visit during the first two weeks of the exhibition, and the award will be given to the artist whose work receives the most visitor votes
The Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition is Rochester’s longest-running juried showcase of contemporary work by regional artists. The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, June 28, and will run through Sunday, October 5. Access to the exhibition is included in general museum admission.
