The Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) is pleased to announce the opening of Rachel Rose on view September 27, 2025, through January 18, 2026, in the Media Arts Watch Gallery.

Rachel Rose’s seven-minute video, The Last Day, presents an unfolding sequence of still life photographs composed of toys, drawings, and other objects found in her children’s bedroom. Structured into seven epochs, these images trace Earth’s history, with each epoch lit in sequence from sunrise to dusk, compressing billions of years into the span of a single day. By translating the vast arc of planetary change into the intimate scale of a child’s room, The Last Day reveals how the history of Earth mirrors the evolution of human imagination.

Rose’s videos have been exhibited internationally with solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, SITE Santa Fe, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Aspen Art Museum, Serpentine Galleries, and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, among many others.

Rachel Rose opens September 27 in MAG’s Media Arts Watch Gallery, and access to the exhibition is included with general museum admission. To learn more and purchase admission tickets, visit https://mag.rochester.edu/exhibitions/rachel-rose/.
