Volunteer

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your time and skills, meet new friends, and make a vital contribution to the Memorial Art Gallery? Join the more than 1,000 people each year who donate their time and energy to help further the mission of the Memorial Art Gallery. MAG has many volunteer opportunities available, both behind the scenes and in contact with the public. All volunteers receive on-site training and an invitation to an annual volunteer recognition reception. Volunteers who work more than 100 hours annually receive discounts at THE STORE @ MAG and free or reduced admission to museum events.

“Ask Me” Volunteer Form

“Ask Me” volunteers welcome and provide a friendly atmosphere for visitors to the museum during special events. Prospective volunteers must apply in writing to the administrator of volunteer services and tours. There are no educational requirements, but one should have an interest in art, strong communication skills, commitment to a short training session, and a minimum of a 2-3 hour assignment each month. “Ask Me” volunteers are expected to attend two meetings a year to refresh training, and to keep current on museum programs and exhibitions. They are invited to attend docent orientations.

The University of Rochester has recently mandated that all staff and volunteers be vaccinated against COVID-19. Read the policy here. If you are not fully vaccinated, we will hold your application until vaccinations are no longer a requirement.
