Jewish Heritage Celebration Day

Jewish Heritage Celebration Day at MAG

Sunday, June 13, 2021 | Download a schedule of the day’s events

This was held during the time that The 613 by Archie Rand was on view at MAG. An enormous multi-panel painting, The 613 depicts surprising responses to the 613 commandments of the Torah, which is the first five books of the Hebrew Bible (or Old Testament). Yes, there are more than 10 commandments—the rules that govern ethical and religious behavior in Judaism. Archie Rand’s monumental installation explores traditions of both biblical interpretation and artistic expression and exemplifies his groundbreaking achievements in the construction of contemporary Jewish iconography.

This event is free, but reservations are required. Sponsored by the Gallery Council with additional support provided by the Louis S. Wolk JCC of Greater Rochester.
