Called “America’s first true artistic movement”, the Hudson River School came to define a uniquely American aesthetic by showcasing the country’s majestic landscapes. Influenced by Romanticism and Spiritualism, their work explored key notions of 19th-century national identity, westward expansion, and environmental awareness— while establishing America as a ‘New World Eden’. Join us for a closer look at these incredible artists, including gallery activities.
