Accessibility

Accessibility
The Memorial Art Gallery is committed to making its collections, buildings, programs, and services accessible to all visitors. This includes our events rooms, the Auditorium, Max at the Gallery, The Creative Workshop and the Gallery Store.
Parking
Designated spaces are available in the front parking lot off University Avenue as well as at the rear entrance off Goodman Street for visitors with disabilities. The clearance is six feet, six inches (6′ 6″). Both entrances are fully accessible.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome in the Museum.
Wheelchairs
The Museum is accessible to wheelchair users and other visitors who need to avoid stairs. The Creative Workshop is accessible through the elevator in the Pavilion. A few wheelchairs are available free of charge at coat-check areas on a first-come, first-served basis. Inquire at the Admission Desk. Coatroom and free lockers are also available. Wheelchair seating is available in the Auditorium.
Elevators are located in two locations in the building. The Gallery Map (PDF) is available at the Admission Desk. You may also call 585-276-8900 during office hours, or email us at maginfo @ mag.rochester.edu to request a copy in advance.
Public Telephones
Wheelchair-accessible public telephones, as well as telephones with volume control, are located in the Pavilion as well as Cutler Union and the Creative Workshop.
Sign Language
Sign Language interpreters may be requested for Museum programs. At least two weeks’ notice is required. Email Kerry Donovan at kdonovan @ mag.rochester.edu.
Braille
The Museum offers an events calendar, updated monthly, in Braille. Ask at the Admissions Desk. We also offer materials and tours for the visually impaired.
Audio and Self-Guided Tours
The Memorial Art Gallery offers detailed audio descriptions of selected works of art in the Gallery’s collection to visitors who are blind or visually impaired. These descriptions are available as recordings via cell phones, in print at the Admission Desk, and on the Gallery’s website.
To schedule a sign language interpreter or touch tour for the blind, or request an events calendar in Braille or text version, call the education department at 585.276.8971. Or email Kerry Donovan at kdonovan @ mag.rochester.edu. Deaf and hard-of-hearing people may also call via Relay Service.

Centennial Sculpture Park
The Sculpture Park is accessible. It is open to the public seven days a week, year round. Sculptures can be touched. To schedule an event in this space, contact the events office. (See Centennial Sculpture Park for more information on the art and artists.)
MAGart
The Memorial Art Gallery has become the first Rochester museum to launch an iPhone app for visitors. The inaugural version of the free app—titled MAGart—explores selected objects in the Gallery’s collection from the Ancient World, Asia, and Medieval and Renaissance Europe. MAGart allows smartphone and iPad users to search these objects by culture, time period or title; get in-depth information about them; and follow pre-selected tours as short as 30 minutes. Audio Tours are also available.
