Since its inception in 1966, hundreds of volunteers participated in MAG’s Docent Program to support the museum’s initiatives through guided tours, connecting museum visitors with art from around the world spanning 5,000 years of history. Today, a dedicated corps of over fifty MAG docents continue to transform their knowledge into engaging experiences for our visitors.

Every year, MAG docents engage with several thousand pre-K–12 school students on field trips to the museum, and facilitate visits for college and university students. Some of our docents provide specialized tours, such as Meet Me at MAG.

MAG docents also lead tours for a wide variety of audiences ranging from corporate groups, social service organizations, to visitors with special needs.

We do not currently have formal plans for training new docent prospects.  If you would like to be notified of opportunities to become a docent in the future, please contact Chiyo Ueyama at cueyama@mag.rochester.edu.
