Painters like to say, ‘Color gets the credit, but value does the work.’ In this Art Start, we see how differences between light and dark determine the emotional effect of a painting, and how patterns of value create the forms that give it meaning. We will work with some simple watercolor exercises to see how different kinds of shadows can create a realistic scene with minimal effort. Bring an open mind and a critical eyethat’s all you need.
