Sketchbook drawing is largely about capturing a setting and a fleeting moment rather than a faithful recording. It is a way of keeping a travel diary that disappeared with the advent of the camera. Rather than taking a snapshot, sketchbook drawing is an exercise in intense looking. We will meet twice a week in a public location in the Rochester area, capturing the essence of that unique moment in time. Our drawing practice will focus on location, perspective, ambiance, travel portraiture, gesture and and fleeting impressions.
Students need to purchase materials for this class.
