Explore the culinary delights of an hoMAGe to impressionism with a curator of art, a “curator” of wine, and a “curator” of food! Nancy Norwood, Curator of European Art, will talk to you about MAG’s exhibition Frontiers of Impressionism, followed by a brief discussion on the wine pairings you’ll be experiencing with your meal from expert Bruce Smoller, and, finally, from Chef Jim Rice, you’ll find out what goes into carefully crafting a four-course menu inspired by the artwork in the exhibition.
First Course: Duo of French Classics: Petite croque monsieur alongside a garden-fresh vegetable bisque shooter – Ratatouille inspired, finished with crème fraiche
Paired with: Domaine Rolet Père et Fils Arbois Poulsard Vieilles Vignes
Second Course: Orange and Fennel Salad, inspired by John Singer Sargent’s Oranges at Corfu
Paired with: Le Rocher des Violettes Montlouis-sur-Loire Touche-Mitaine (Chenin Blanc)
Third Course: “Classic” French Bistro, with perfectly seared steak au poivre alongside coriander and honey-roasted tri-color carrots and potatoes boulangère

Finale: a Napoleon of sweet puff pastry with wild bush berries and supreme orange, decadent fresh crème legere, and finished with candied orange rind
Paired with: Château Guiraud Petit Guiraud Sauternes
