In accordance with the American Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD) resolution of 1/25/2016 supporting the College Art Association’s Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for the Visual Arts as the interim standard and guidance for the art museum field, the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester (MAG) adopts the CAA Code of Best Practices in Fair Use in its provision of digital images of works of art in the Gallery’s collection for reference and scholarship, in support of educational programming, and for purposes of publicity for MAG events and programs via traditional and social media.
Permission to reproduce images from the collection for educational or other uses may be requested from the Gallery’s Curatorial Department. If the object is still under copyright, additional permission from the artist and/or their representative will be required. For more information, please contact:
