SUMMARY:Woodblock Printing (63F25)
DESCRIPTION:Taught by: Ashley Rehler \nWoodblock carving is one of the oldest forms of printmaking\, a relief method where wood is carved away to create an image. In this class\, you will watch demonstrations on each step: creating an image\, transferring the image to a woodblock\, carving\, and hand printing. Students then create their own woodblock\, carve it out\, and have prints worthy of framing! No experience necessary; beginners and intermediates welcome. \nPlease note: All class supplies are provided. Prior to arrival\, we recommend that students consider a handful of ideas for their woodblock and print out a copy of the chosen image. Ideal imagery has bold shapes or lines to make carving easier. Woodblock dimensions are approximately 6×6 inches. Students will have about an hour and a half to carve their images. \nMaterials\nAll materials provided. \nRegistration Information\nRegistration for this program starts on Monday\, August 18\, at 10:00 am for MAG Members\, and Monday\, August 25\, at 10:00 am for Not-Yet-Members. Online registration ends on Tuesday\, October 21\, at 6:00 pm. \nPrograms with inadequate enrollment are cancelled one week before the first meeting.
