Timed Ticket & Event Registration FAQs

How do I RSVP online to members-only events?

  • First, please register using the same information as is in your membership record. If your address or email has recently changed, email memberperks@mag.rochester.edu to update your information.
  • If you are not sure if you have signed in before, please register here. Then, return to the event link to RSVP for the event.
  • If you are a new member, your membership record may not yet be updated. Please contact the Membership Office for assistance in signing up for a member event or ticket.

How do I reserve Timed Tickets?

  • Visit our Timed Tickets page and click “Member Tickets.” You must sign in as a member to reserve free member tickets and discounted guest tickets. If this is your first time reserving a ticket online at MAG, please first register using the same information as is in your membership record. If your information has recently changed, please update your record by contacting the Membership Office.
  • If you are a new member, your membership record may not yet be updated. Please contact the Membership Office for assistance in signing up for a member event or ticket.

How many Timed Tickets can I reserve?

  • After you sign in as a member, you will be able to reserve free member tickets depending on your membership level, and guest tickets at a 50% discount. Remember, a member must accompany guests who have discounted tickets on their visit to MAG. Member tickets are non-transferrable. You can reserve the following tickets online:
    Individual, Student 1 free adult member ticket 50% discounted guest tickets
    Out of Town 2 free adult member tickets 50% discounted guest tickets
    Dual/Family, Reciprocal,
    Patron, Benefactor
    2 free adult member tickets, free child member tickets for children/grandchildren in your household under 18 50% discounted guest tickets
    Director’s Circle 2 free adult member tickets 6 free guest tickets (contact the Membership Office to reserve additional guest tickets)

General Membership FAQs

How do I buy Timed Tickets for my guests with the 50% discount?

  • First, please sign in as a member and reserve your free member ticket(s). Next, click “continue shopping” and visit the general admission timed ticket page to reserve guest tickets at a discounted rate. If you are signed in as a member, your cart will be automatically discounted.

I reserved a Timed Ticket for myself, but now I would like to bring a guest. How do I reserve an additional discounted guest ticket?

  • First, please sign in as a member. If you are signed in, you will receive an automatic discount on general admission tickets. Visit our general admission timed ticket page to purchase guest tickets. Please be sure to select the same time slot as your ticket – guests with a discounted ticket must be accompanied by a member.

Why did MAG extend memberships?

  • Memberships current as of March 2020, and memberships purchased during our temporary museum closure, were extended the length of museum closure to ensure that members received access to 12 full months of in-person membership benefits – our gift to you! MAG & GEC joint memberships were not extended. If you have questions about your membership, please contact the Membership Office.

My membership was extended – do I need a new membership card?

  • No, you do not need a new membership card. Your membership extension is in our system and you can continue to enjoy all of your membership benefits without a new card.

What does my membership donation fund?

  • The money from membership goes directly to our Operating Income, which funds the day-to-day operations of the museum. In other words, it helps to keep our lights on!

When should I expect to receive my membership cards?

  • Your membership cards will arrive approximately two weeks from the day our membership is processed. If you would like to visit MAG but have not yet received your card, simply present your photo ID at the Admission Desk.

How do I obtain a replacement membership card?

  • Please contact the Membership Office at memberperks@mag.rochester.edu or 585-276-8939 to request a replacement card. We will replace membership cards up to 2 months before expiration. To visit MAG without your membership card, simply present your photo ID at the Admission Desk.

How do I update my contact information?

  • Please contact the Membership Office to update your email, address, or phone number. Keeping your information updated ensures you receive all of the latest news and benefits of your membership!

Who is included in a Dual/Family membership?

  • A Dual/Family membership applies to two adults (age 18 and older) living in the same household listed on the membership, and children and grandchildren under the age of 18. Any other family members (adults 18 and older) need to pay admission, but it is half price since they are attending with a member (you!).

Is my membership tax-deductible?

  • As of March 1, 2013, memberships to the University of Rochester Memorial Art Gallery are fully deductible for income tax purposes to the extent provided by law.  You should receive a receipt from the University of Rochester (separate from your membership cards) indicating this approximately one week after your membership is processed. Please consult your tax adviser.

Do you offer a senior discount on membership?

  • No, we do not offer a discount on memberships for seniors.

Do you offer a membership discount for University of Rochester employees and students?

  • Current University of Rochester employees and students with a valid ID receive a 50% discount on Individual or Dual/Family memberships. Please sign up online or at the Admissions Desk. This discount does not apply to gift memberships.

Do you offer a membership discount for college students?

  • Full-time college students with a valid ID may purchase a membership for $35 at the Admissions Desk.

What levels of membership receive reciprocity through the North American Reciprocal Program participating institutions?

How many preview party tickets do I get? Can I invite or bring guests not on my membership? Can I pay for additional tickets?

  • Members are welcome to bring guests with them to preview parties. The number of free tickets for each level will vary depending on the event and will be announced on the event registration website. Unlike in the past, you cannot purchase additional tickets.
