Sarah Hart

Sarah Hart has taught at the Creative Workshop since 2007. She earned a BFA from Meredith College, Raleigh, NC, and studied oil painting and drawing in Paris with fresco painter Ben Long IV, focusing on portraits, the figure and landscapes. Her post-graduate studies include the Jeffrey Mims Studio in Southern Pines, NC, with an emphasis on the figure outdoors and portraiture. She capped her formal art education with an intensive study of classical oil painting methods for figure and portraiture at Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy. “I still consider myself very much a student,” says Sarah, “studying the masters and trying to learn how they worked.”

Sarah and her husband, Benton, own and operate Classic Adventures, a bicycle adventure travel company that offers cycling tours throughout Europe and North America. They recently purchased and renovated an old (circa 1840) Erie Canal building, which is home to Hart Gallery 27 and eight working artist studios.  They make their home in the historic village of Brockport, NY.
