New @ Creative Workshop

To further celebrate the De’VIA exhibition coming to MAG, the Creative Workshop introduces new courses designed for Deaf and hard of hearing kids and adults. View a video:

“Hello! My name’s Aaron Swindle and I was recently hired by the MAG, Memorial Art Gallery. I will soon be teaching two classes: drawing and painting for adults and teens so come on and please sign up!”

MAG members register first between December 2-8, 2019. General registration will open on December 9th. Registrations can happen in person, by mail or via our online registration system. Don’t forget: Winter Art Classes make a wonderful holiday gift for a child, teen or adult. All classes interpreted in ASL upon request.


DEAF ART STUDIO JR. (FOR AGES 6–10)
FOUR SATURDAYS, 11 AM–12:30 PM, FEBRUARY 8–MARCH 7, 2020 | NO CLASS 2/15

Inspired by the De’VIA exhibition, this class will allow young artists to draw, paint and make comics that express their own creativity. Class size is limited. All classes taught in ASL (American Sign Language) and spoken English.

ART FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS (FOR ADULTS)
SIX TUESDAYS, 10 AM–12:30 PM, JANUARY 14–FEBRUARY 25, 2020 | NO CLASS 2/18

Learn basic art principals as you play and gain confidence in your creativity. This class is designed as a sampler of medias. All materials provided. Class size is limited. All classes taught in ASL (American Sign Language) and spoken English.

DRAWING INTO PAINTING (FOR ADULTS)
EIGHT TUESDAYS, 1:30–4:30 PM, JANUARY 7–MARCH 3, 2020 | NO CLASS 2/18

You’ll paint better if you draw better—and have fun doing both! This class is a creative mix of essential drawing skills and basics of acrylic painting — scale and proportion, form and value, setting up your palette, and designing your composition. All classes taught in ASL (American Sign Language) and spoken English.
