Jennielyz Santana-Vega

Jennielyz (Jenny) Santana-Vega first joined the Creative Workshop team as a volunteer and over the last five years moved into a Teacher Assistant role. Beginning in Fall 2022, Jenny will be joining the team as a Ceramics Teacher for kids aged 7 to 9.

Born in Puerto Rico and moving to Rochester when she was just two years old, Jennie grew up always surrounded by as her mom is an oil painter. While at the School of the Arts, Jenny developed her own art skills and through her work at the Creative Workshop, she was able to explore her own art skills further while working with younger students with art. Jenny also earned an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts at MCC. She is bi-lingual (Spanish and English) and interested in teaching classes or private lessons to children whose first language is Spanish.

Her medium of choice is clay and she also enjoys making mixed media with needlework, painting and pencil art. Jenny is inspired by Frida Kahlo for her unique artistic style and her form of self expression and life stories through her work.  Jenny’s favorite thing about the Creative Workshop is being immersed in a community of students and teacher that are passionate for art. She finds joy in watching the students be creative, teaching them new art skills and watching them bring it to life!
