Amy Jarnagin Fisher

Children’s art, adult & teen painting
Amy created a special Virtual DEMO during our M&T Bank Clothesline Online Festival this year. You can view it here:

Amy has a wide body of experience teaching various people groups of all ages in a variety of environments including the gallery space and art studio. “I prefer to teach through leading experiences that build skills in art viewing and art making. Participants have the opportunity to construct meaning and images that are unique to themselves and can take the skills they build with them beyond the classroom experience.”

Amy graduated from Hollins University, where she studied art history in Italy and London, and from Rhode Island School of Design, where she received an MA with honors in museum education. As part of her master’s thesis, she explored how the museum educator may enhance the viewer’s engagement with a work of art.

She began her teaching career as an art and design technology instructor at Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and later became the Art Institute Coordinator and art educator at the Young At Art Children’s Museum in Davie, FL. She has also had an educational experience at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, FL, the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC, and The Museum of Art at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Amy has designed online teacher resources for MAG’s education department, including a curriculum for teachers to use the Learning to Look posters.
