DICK KANE RETIRES (but shows at the Workshop!)
Workshop instructor Dick Kane is still painting, but after nearly two decades he’s taking a break from teaching.
We’re in the process of creating a wonderful show of Dick’s own paintings, along with those of his recent students. If you’d like to participate or share your memories, please call Rachael Baldanza at 276-8956. The show will be on view in the Burne Gallery from April 12 to May 11. You’re also invited to a reception honoring Dick on Thursday, April 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Dick Kane has taught painting at the Creative Workshop since 2000. His paintings and teaching style are well known for their energy and excitement.

Dick studied at RIT with Ralph Avery and others and has exhibited extensively. One of his commissions is at Barnes & Noble–Pittsford. He has been an active member of the Rochester Art Club, Manhattan Art Group and Tuesday Artists Breakfast Group. He is a longtime exhibitor at the Clothesline Festival, where he is a past Merit Award winner.

Dick has taught painting for more than 35 years, with landscape closest to his heart. He encourages students to observe, see shapes and paint the whole. He works one-on-one with his students and delights as they show their own work in student and local shows, often with accolades.
