Yvonne Koketso Ferreira
Fibers: Crochet, Children’s Art
Since the early 1970s Ferreira has been an accomplished fiber artist, first specializing in puppet construction, costumes and set design, then in crochet creations.
A graduate of SUNY Brockport’s Interdisciplinary arts education program, Ferreira began her career as founder and master puppeteer of Gazelle Puppets & Tales in Kansas City, MO, and as an educator in the Kansas City and Orlando, FL school districts.
A three-time Disney Teacheriffic Award winner, she was one of 56 teaching artists nationwide selected to perform storytelling, teach crochet and offer job skills training with the American/South African Partnership. She has also taught crochet in New York City, Orlando, Kansas City, Chicago, San Francisco, Pheonix and Newark NJ.
A Rochester transplant in early 2007, Ferreira operates her own business, Cozy Crochet, and offers private lessons in crochet at a local art studio.
