yvonne-ferreiraNew to the Workshop! Taught at her Trinidadian Nana’s knee, Yvonne K. Ferreira has been crocheting since her youth.

Since the early 1970s Ferreira has been an accomplished fiber artist, first specializing in puppet construction, costumes and set design, then in crochet creations.

A graduate of SUNY Brockport’s Interdisciplinary arts education program, Ferreira began her career as founder and master puppeteer of Gazelle Puppets & Tales in┬áKansas City, MO, and as an educator in the Kansas City and Orlando, FL school districts.

A three-time Disney Teacheriffic Award winner, she was one of 56 teaching artists nationwide selected to perform storytelling, teach crochet and offer job skills training with the American/South African Partnership. She has also taught crochet in New York City, Orlando, Kansas City, Chicago, San Francisco, Pheonix and Newark NJ.

A Rochester transplant in early 2007, Ferreira operates her own business, Cozy Crochet, and offers private lessons in crochet at a local art studio.
