Jolene Beckman
Painting

jolene_beckmanNew to the Workshop! Jolene Beckman has been painting professionally for 12 years. She brings a sense of wonder to teaching and a passion for guiding others as they develop their painting abilities.

Jolene’s paintings are often inspired by social constructs and the ways art and literature attempt to enter into the dialog visually and metaphorically. She is adept at painting with oils, acrylics, and watercolor, as well as drawing. She often experiments with media to connect the message of the piece to the materials it is made with, such as homemade food-based dyes and, most recently, wallpaper.

Jolene earned her MFA at the University of Buffalo, and her BS from SUNY Brockport where she studied painting and Art History. She exhibits her work locally and nationally, in solo and group exhibitions, including the Woman Made Gallery and the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago, IL; Black Radish Studio in Rochester, NY; Carnegie Art Center in Buffalo, NY; and several others. Jolene’s artwork can be viewed on her website.
