(members’ opening party July 12)

Summers at MAG are dedicated to the art of upstate New York. On alternating years, the Gallery presents juried and invitational exhibitions that showcase regional artists working in a variety of media.

For the 6th Rochester Biennial, the Gallery’s director and curators have selected these six exceptional artists:

  • Juan Carlos Caballero-Perez, Rochester (metalwork)
  • Richard Hirsch, Churchville (ceramics)
  • Jeff Kell, Rush (ceramics)
  • Kumi Korf, Ithaca (prints, artist’s books)
  • Lynette Stephenson, Hamilton (painting)
  • Kim Waale, Manlius (installations)

Each Biennial artist will present about half a dozen new works.

Pictured: One artist in each Biennial is chosen from the previous year’s Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition. This year, the honor goes to Jeff Kell. Shown above is his ceramic Hero or Zero? (2013), from that show.
