On June 26, approximately 800 visitors—new faces and “regulars” alike—celebrated Fiberart International at a free family day. The indoor and outdoor activities included traditional music by Abe’s Lily & Friends (pictured at right), hands-on activities and even an outdoor weaving project.
(Top row) Led by Heather Layton of the UR, visitors turned the Gallery fence into a huge color warp weaving. Haven Monk-George, Imani Wilson and Kahmil Monk-George had their faces painted. A young visitor examined the weaving.
(Bottom row) In the Creative Workshop, visitors enjoyed a fiber art project led by Frances Hare. Husband and wife Jorge Gomez-Juarez and Diana Casais-Almanza and their two sons showed off felted beads they made. Sitting between her mother, Gina Schifano-Selner, and grandmother, Gemma Petracca, Lena Seiner modeled the vest and skirt she made.
