Join us at Tapas for small plates and drinks. We’ll have drink specials from 5-6, music by Teagan Ward of Teagan and the Tweeds, a special sneak preview of Boo Poulin’s new work in the Gallery Store. We’ll have a short info session to fill you in on the Averell Council. Through association with the Memorial Art Gallery, Averell Council members will have the opportunity to invent, plan, sponsor, or just enjoy unique art-oriented events. Best of all, ideas for the events come from the members, and member volunteers make those ideas happen.

The Mission

Our mission is to support the Memorial Art Gallery. To retain, expand and diversify our membership; increase awareness of the institution and the collection; raise operational funds; and offer cultural events for both social and educational outreach.

There are a multitude of ways to get involved with the Averell Council. Here are 5:

Averell on Art (Educational Programming)

Learn and help others learn about art. Develop art and education programs such as informal talks featuring nationally renowned artists, critics and collectors, in cooperation with the Education Department at MAG.

3rd Thursday

Keep us hopping. Develop new, fresh and different events for the 3rd Thursday nights to educate and appeal to a broad range of Averell Council members.

Gala Committee

Develop and propose an annual Gala event for the Council, starting in 2014.

Membership Committee

Keep us growing. Help develop ideas to attract new Averell Council members, and keep current members happy and involved with the Gallery.

Marketing Committee

Build support and promotion of programs and events with the Averell Council. Working with the MAG Marketing Department, the goal will be to produce a free quarterly pub about arts in Rochester.

Meet new friends and join us at whatever level you choose. Attend and enjoy, give a few hours of your time, or become an active volunteer.
