GALLERY COUNCIL TOURS
Sponsored by the Gallery Council and open to all interested travelers.
Our art lovers’ tours are organized and sponsored by the Gallery Council to benefit MAG and open to all interested travelers. In October 2008, travelers enjoyed a magical week-long visit to Mexico’s famed artist colony of San Miguel de Allende. But most trips are one-, two- or three-day excursions.
Among the trips we’re planning for 2010:
A Touch of Class in Glass
Tuesday, April 27
Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit premier private glass collections in the Rochester area. This trip will fill up quickly.
Pictured: Dale Chihuly's work is included in two of the collections on this tour, as well as in the collection of the Memorial Art Gallery. Shown at left is MAG's Pale Iris Seaform Set with Honeysuckle Lip Wraps (1997).
Darwin Martin House
Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright
Saturday, June 5
Back by popular demand! This day trip includes visits to two homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright--the Darwin Martin House in Buffalo and Martin's summer home, Graycliff, on Lake Erie. We'll also see two 21st-century structures built from Wright's original designs--the Blue-Sky Mausoleum in Forest Lawn Cemetery and the West Side Rowing Club's FLW Boathouse.
Shaw Festival
Thursday, June 17
This favorite annual day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake includes a matinee of Harvey--the Pulitzer Prize-winning play made famous by Jimmy Stewart's 1950 film--plus lunch and dinner.
