GALLERY COUNCIL TOURS
Sponsored by the Gallery Council and open to all interested travelers.
Our art lovers’ tours are organized and sponsored by the Gallery Council to benefit MAG and open to all interested travelers. In October 2008, travelers enjoyed a magical week-long visit to Mexico’s famed artist colony of San Miguel de Allende. But most trips are one-, two- or three-day excursions.
Among the trips we’re planning for 2009:
Picturing Rochester!
Wednesday, December 2
Invitation: We invite you to enjoy a special day in Rochester visiting photography galleries and nationally known
photographers’ studios. There is minimal walking and elevators available.
Experience: Leave MAG from the Goodman Street parking lot by comfortable motor coach at 9 a.m.
- Our first stop is at Image City Galley for a sneak preview of the outstanding holiday exhibit and to meet the gallery owners to learn about the images and the photographers.
- We then travel to Anderson Alley to visit the diverse studios of several professional fine arts photographers. We’ll hear about the world of professional photography and view their work.
- A delicious lunch will be provided at the private Chatterbox Club.
- Our final visit will be to the Eastman House where we will have a private behind the scenes visit with an archivist who will discuss the 500,000 image collection with emphasis on 15-20 special images by famous photographers he has selected for our viewing.
- There will be time to visit the Christmas decorated Eastman House, the annual gingerbread house exhibit, the Picturing Rochester exhibit, or the gift shop. We will return to MAG at 3:45.
Cost: The price of the trip is $112 for MAG members and $124 for non members. This includes transportation, snacks, lunch at a private club, gratuities plus a $25 tax deductible donation to the Memorial Art Gallery.
