Going for Baroque is a weekly series of mini-recitals. It offers the opportunity for students from the Eastman School of Music to perform along side professional musicians on the Italian Baroque organ on the second floor of the museum.

    A mixed program with the Eastman School of Music faculty and students featuring organ, instrumentalists, and vocalists.

  • October 20, 2016: ‘The Orient Express: Venice to Istanbul’ with Il Giardino d’AmoreThe European baroque chamber ensemble Il Giardino d’Amore opens a new season of popular “Third Thursday Concerts” with the Eastman School of Music’s Italian Baroque Organ at the MAG on Thursday Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m. As part of their current U.S. tour*, the group will present a program titled Orient Express: Venice – Istanbul – Mumbai: A Journey Through Time. Featuring baroque string instruments, the Italian Baroque Organ, and oriental percussion, the colorful program will explore the cultural influences of the Orient on the Baroque music of Western Europe. We see this as a lovely tie-in with our current exhibition Courtly Pleasures: Indian Miniature Paintings.
