FAQs

What is my booth number? Booth locations have been assigned. Find your name on the ARTIST LIST and you will find your booth number. Here is a BOOTH MAP.

Where is my parking pass? Parking assignments will also be posted on the website prior to the festival. An email will be sent that will have a generic load-in pass for you to print and place on your windshield. ALL ARTISTS MUST CHECK IN AT HEADQUARTERS UPON ARRIVAL. THERE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ARTIST PACKET THAT WILL INCLUDE YOUR PERMANENT PARKING PASS FOR THE DURATION OF THE FESTIVAL. PARKING PASSES WILL NOT BE REISSUED.

What is an artist’s packet? The artist packet contains your parking pass, maps, the festival program, coffee coupons, name badges, discount coupons for the Gallery Store, our restaurant Brown Hound Downtown info for breakfast and lunch, and more! ARTISTS MUST CHECK IN AT HEADQUARTERS UPON ARRIVAL.

Do we (the artists) have to provide a tent? Yes, a 10×10 tent. All tents must be properly weighted. To rent a tent, tables, pipe, and drape etc. please call Nolan’s Party Rental at 585.787.2555. They will walk you through the process and are the exclusive provider for the Clothesline Festival. Nolan’s crew will set the tents up on Thursday and take them down on Monday. EZ ups are not recommended.

How do we weight our tent? 40 pounds per tent leg is advised. Weights and stakes should be contained within the footprint of the booth. Should you need to fill your weights, water is available near the blue awning on the north side of the building.

Does my tent have to be white? White is suggested. The sun is very strong, so most artists prefer white or light-colored tents. All tents must be fire rated.

Is there power or water? No power available. Generators are not allowed. There is water available near the blue awning on the north side of the building.

Do I have to tear down and reset between Saturday & Sunday? No. Booths may remain in place for the duration of the Festival. It is up to the individual artists whether to remove all or some of the booth contents overnight.

Do you have security? Yes. The grounds are locked and we provide overnight security on Friday & Saturday. By submitting and signing your application to the Festival you acknowledge that property is brought to the Festival at your own risk and you agree not to hold the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, its officers, agents or volunteers responsible for loss or damage of any kind at any time.

Do I have to be open and in my booth the entire time? Yes. Booths must have the exhibiting artist present in the booth throughout the entire festival. Short breaks are permitted. You may have as many helpers as you wish, however only 1 Assistant is allowed admission by wearing their name badge and showing our gatekeepers upon arrival. Any additional helpers/assistants/family members must pay the 5$ admission to access the Festival. Only 1 parking pass is issued per booth; any Assistants are responsible for finding and paying for their own parking. Parking passes will not be re-issued.

Do you have booth sitters? Please speak to the staff at Clothesline Headquarters upon check-in if you have a concern about bathroom breaks or grabbing a bite to eat. We have volunteers for that!

Can I bring my pets? Pets are not allowed at Clothesline unless they are service animals. The festival is crowded, noisy, and often hot. Not a great experience for any pet.

Where do I get lunch? Multiple food vendors and food trucks are on-site as well as Brown Hound Downtown inside the museum.

Oh No! I have to withdraw – what do I do? Please notify the Clothesline team by calling 585.276.8949 or EMAIL. In order to accommodate gaps in the setup, it is very much appreciated that you let us know if you cannot make the show. Your fellow artists will also appreciate keeping the festival staff informed as the traffic flow is dependent on consecutive rows of booths. Unfortunately, the deadline for refunds has passed, so you will forfeit the booth fees if you do cancel.

I have a question that has not been answered – who do I contact for help? Prior to the Festival please contact Tricia or Anthony in the Events Office by calling 585.276.8949, or via email at EMAIL.
