Portfolio Development, Drawing
New at the Workshop! Maria earned a BFA from Pratt Institute in 2008 and a master’s in art education from Nazareth College in 2011. In 2007 she studied abroad in Venice, Italy, where the Italian landscape forever influenced her sense of color, light and composition.
As a teacher, Maria values both the development of technical skill, and the power of imagination and risk taking in creating. She guides her students to trust themselves and their own abilities and creative decisions.
As an artist, she believes in observing, researching and sketching in combination with spontaneity and intuition. For her, it is important to follow the curious “what if” moments of creating.
Formerly an assistant manager at the Gallery Store, Maria recently accepted a new position at the Belhurst Wine and Gift Shop in Geneva, NY.
