For our 52nd year we are expanding our territory to reach out to a 53-county region of New York State, making Clothesline Festival better than ever!
From our inception in 1957, the spirit of this festival has been to celebrate regional artists. Now celebrating its 52nd year, the Clothesline Festival is one of the largest fine art and craft festivals in New York State. This year, artists from 53 counties will exhibit and sell their original works at this two-day event on the 17-acre campus of the Memorial Art Gallery. All proceeds from the Festival are used to support Gallery exhibitions, events and programs enabling the museum to fulfill its mission of connecting people with art in a welcoming and stimulating environment for lifelong learning and appreciation of the visual arts.

This year’s Clothesline Festival is scheduled for September 6 and 7. We welcome your application to participate in this exciting Rochester—and Gallery—tradition.

Time
Saturday, September 6: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 7: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Residency Requirement
This year, Clothesline will showcase an expanded 53-county region. Artists living in these counties are newly eligible: Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Montgomery, Orange, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, St. Lawrence, Ulster, Warren and Washington.
As in past years, artists are also eligible from these western New York counties: Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates.
Applications will not be processed without proof of residency such as a copy of a driver’s license or voter registration card.

Non-Refundable Application Fee $25 (due with application)
Fee: $300 (minus $25 application fee= $275 due upon acceptance into show)
Dimensions: 10 feet x 10 feet
Application Highlights
- Applications will be sent to Gallery members and past Merit Award winners on April 2nd and three weeks later to non-members (April 30th) if spaces remain.
- All artwork must be designed and executed by the artist.
