"Visual Literacy: Using Art to Teach Reading Comprehension Strategies." Understanding a work of art is like understanding a written text; the process of careful observation, analysis of details, inference and conclusion is the same. Memorial Art Gallery educators will share teaching strategies that use art as a stimulus with guided practice for students to examine visual documents and creative expressions. Participants will receive templates for integrated literacy and art lessons for their classrooms.
