Lynette Stephenson of Hamilton, one of six artists selected for the 6th Rochester Biennial, speaks on her work. Her talk is included in Gallery admission.
Stephenson received her MFA in painting and drawing from Georgia State University. She is an associate professor of art and art history at Colgate University. At MAG, her work was selected for the 2007 Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition, where she won the Rochester Art Club award for excellence in painting.
Of her work in the Biennial, Stephenson writes, “I use odd-looking figures in simple but unexplained surroundings in order to highlight the illogical aspects of human existence and the profound strangeness of life.”
