“Bob was one of the mainstays of this museum for many years,” said director Grant Holcomb. “His tenure as Board president was strong, effective and inspirational. He also provided a wonderful sense of humor that kept us going in challenging times. With his wife, Joanne, and their children and grandchildren, Bob truly enriched our lives individually and collectively and richly gave his ‘time, talent and treasure’ to the Gallery.”
Most recently, Bob and Joanne commissioned RPO Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik to compose “Images at an Art Museum,” a musical celebration of the Gallery’s Centennial. The 40-minute orchestral suite had its world premiere at Eastman Theatre in November 2012, with the composer on the podium. Read more
In another Centennial gift, the Gianninys underwrote Poets Walk, an interactive sidewalk bordering the Gallery’s Centennial Sculpture Park.
