Sandra Koon

Gallery Council President 2008–2010

In 1998, just as she was about to retire from her job as a school administrator, Sandy Koon heard that the Memorial Art Gallery was looking for docents. The timing was perfect for Koon, who had gotten the art bug after taking classes with in the Creative Workshop. And it was a stroke of good fortune for MAG. Koon was accepted in the docent class of 1999, and not long after was recruited for the Gallery Council Board. There, she quickly moved up from recording secretary to first vice president and finally, in June 2008, to a two-year term as president.
