Around the MAG

gifts and Grants

MAGazine has gone digital! The Gallery's annual member magazine is now Around the MAG, with headlines and features that change each month. Don't look for us in your mailbox, but do visit this site often. (If you're a MAG member, you'll still receive ARTiculate, our bimonthly calendar, by US mail.)

Check this page for updated listings of gifts to the Gallery. View lists from January 1–June 30, 2009: Tribute Fund and gifts of art.

At the September 2 dedication of the Gallery's Lynne Lovejoy Parlor, Mrs. Lovejoy posed with UR president Joel Seligman, MAG director Grant Holcomb and MAG Board president Andy Gallina.

Million-Dollar Gift Will Fund New Gallery of Ancient Art

The Gallery has received a $1,000,000 gift from Helen H. Berkeley, a long-time supporter and former Gallery Council president. The bulk of the gift, one of the largest in MAG history, will be used to renovate and reinstall the second-floor antiquities gallery, an area used extensively by schoolchildren and teachers. This gallery, which will be renamed the Helen H. Berkeley Gallery of Ancient Art, will showcase the Egyptian coffins now on view on the first floor, as well as objects from Egypt, the eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. The remainder of the gift will go to establish the Helen H. Berkeley Fund for Art Conservation. Read the whole story
